"The Lion King (2019)" is close to finding its villainous Scar. TheWrap has reported that Oscar-nominated actor Chiwetel Ejiofor is in talks to lend his voice to the traitorous villain in the live-action remake of Disney's 1994 animated film.

Should the deal be sealed, Ejiofor will join the cast that already has Donald Glover as the voice of Simba and James Earl Jones as the voice of Mufasa. Also lending the voices for other characters in the upcoming film are Seth Rogen, John Oliver and Billy Eichner.

Scar is Simba's power-hungry uncle who betrays and ultimately kills his own brother, Mufasa, and puts the blame on his nephew. In the original, the character was voiced by Jeremy Irons ("Justice League").

The new "Lion King" movie is currently shooting in Los Angeles, with Jon Favreau, who directed "The Jungle Book" live-action remake, sitting behind the lens. Disney will release the film in theaters across the nation on July 19, 2019.
