Chiwetel Ejiofor in Talks to Voice Villainous Scar in 'Lion King' Remake

The Oscar-nominated actor is reportedly in negotiations to lend his voice to the traitorous villain in the live-action remake of Disney's 1994 animated film.

AceShowbiz - "The Lion King (2019)" is close to finding its villainous Scar. TheWrap has reported that Oscar-nominated actor %cChiwetel Ejiofor% is in talks to lend his voice to the traitorous villain in the live-action remake of Disney's 1994 animated film.

Should the deal be sealed, Ejiofor will join the cast that already has %cDonald Glover% as the voice of Simba and %cJames Earl Jones% as the voice of Mufasa. Also lending the voices for other characters in the upcoming film are %cSeth Rogen%, %cJohn Oliver% and %cBilly Eichner%.

Scar is Simba's power-hungry uncle who betrays and ultimately kills his own brother, Mufasa, and puts the blame on his nephew. In the original, the character was voiced by %cJeremy Irons% ("Justice League").

The new "Lion King" movie is currently shooting in Los Angeles, with %cJon Favreau%, who directed "The Jungle Book" live-action remake, sitting behind the lens. Disney will release the film in theaters across the nation on July 19, 2019.
