During the Jisan Valley Rock Music & Arts Festival, Lorde said in an interview that she was introduced to K-pop groups 2NE1 and Girls' Generation in high school. "I think there are a lot of amazing artists in Korea. I particularly like former 2NE1 member CL. I'd love to collaborate with her," she shared.

This isn't the first time Lorde has expressed her love for CL. Previously, the "Royals" songstress tweeted about CL's performance at the 2015 MAMA. She also chose 2NE1 as a K-pop group she's a fan of.
