8-year-old actress Summer Fontana ('The Originals') has landed the pivotal role of playing a young Jean Grey, whose teenage character is played by Sophie Turner.

AceShowbiz - "X-Men: Dark Phoenix" has found its younger Jean Grey in "The Originals" star Summer Fontana. The casting first appeared on the movie's IMDb page. The 8-year-old actress herself recently shared on Twitter a photo from Montreal, where filming is underway.

Sophie Turner ("Game of Thrones") is reprising her role as the teenage version of Jean Grey that she first played in last year's "X-Men: Apocalypse". It seems like "Dark Phoenix" will feature a flashback to the very skillful telekinetic user's childhood and potentially a look at the moment she first shows her abilities.

Jennifer Lawrence, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Nicholas Hoult, Evan Peters, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Tye Sheridan and Alexandra Shipp are all returning for the film which opens in U.S. theaters on November 2 next year, with Simon Kinberg sitting behind the lens in addition to returning as a scribe and producer.

Actress Olivia Munn, meanwhile, played coy when recently asked about her return as Psylocke in the upcoming "X-Men" movie. "I was asked what I can say, and I can't remember," Munn said to MTV at San Diego Comic-Con. "I'll just repeat to you what was said to me in the text. It was: 'be vague.' "
