'Ant-Man and the Wasp': Evangeline Lilly Reacts to Michelle Pfeiffer's Casting as Her On-Screen Mom

Lilly can't hide her excitement following announcement that the veteran actress would play the original Wasp, Janet Van Dyne, in the 'Ant-Man' sequel.

AceShowbiz - Like many Marvel movie fans, Evangeline Lilly is more than happy to welcome Michelle Pfeiffer as the new addition to the cast of "Ant-Man and the Wasp". The veteran actress would play Lilly's on-screen mother, Janet Van Dyne, in the upcoming sequel.

Lilly, who will reprise her role as Hope Van Dyne in "Ant-Man and the Wasp", recently took to Twitter to respond to Pfeiffer's casting in the role. She couldn't hide her excitement as writing, "Ummmmmm.....AAAAAAHHHHHH!!! News is officially out: THE #MichellePfeiffer is my new mom!!!! #waspdreams #idol #dreamcometrue."

Janet Van Dyne has been referenced to in the first Ant-Man movie as the original Wasp. Besides hiring Pfeiffer, the upcoming superhero pic has tapped Laurence Fishburne to play Bill Foster, a former scientist who worked with Hank Pym and later becomes a size-changing superhero, Giant Man, in the comic books.

The news was revealed during Marvel Studios' Hall H panel at San Diego Comic-Con on Saturday, July 22. It was also revealed that a comic-book character called the Ghost would be featured in the movie.

"Ant-Man and the Wasp" brings back Paul Rudd as Scott Lang a.k.a. Ant-Man, Michael Douglas as Dr. Hank Pym and Michael Pena as Luis. Peyton Reed returns as a helmer, with Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari teaming up to write the script. The movie is set for a July 6, 2018 release in the United States.
