The 'Girls' alum joins the cast of the FX horror anthology series, co-creator Ryan Murphy has announced.

AceShowbiz - "American Horror Story" family is welcoming a famous face. Lena Dunham will be joining the cast of the horror anthology series for its upcoming seventh season, co-creator Ryan Murphy has announced via Twitter.

"Thrilled that my talented friend Lena Dunham is joining the AMERICAN HORROR STORY family. Always wanted to work together, and now we r!" he tweeted. The executive producer didn't share details of Dunham's role, but Deadline reports that the gig is for one episode.

Dunham, thus, joins Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Billie Lourd, Cheyenne Jackson, Adina Porter, Billy Eichner, Leslie Grossman and Colton Haynes who were previously confirmed to star in season 7.

The new installment will revolve around the 2016 U.S. election and feature a character based on President Donald Trump. It is expected to kick off on the election night, "illuminating and highlighting people who don't have a voice in our culture -- people who are ignored by the current administration and who are afraid and feel terrorized that their lives are going to be taken away."

The title of season 7 will be revealed on Thursday, July 20.
