Stephen Colbert and Conan O'Brien Mock Donald Trump Jr. for Releasing Emails

Colbert apologizes to Eric Trump for always thinking he's 'the dumb one,' while O'Brien plays a spoof in which Trump Jr. interrupts his father's call with Vladimir Putin.

AceShowbiz - Donald Trump Jr. raised everyone's eyebrows by releasing emails which proved ties to a Russian attorney who allegedly gave the Trump campaign incriminating evidence on Hillary Clinton. This, of course, didn't go unnoticed by late-night TV hosts who often poke fun at Donald Trump and his administration.

In the Tuesday, July 11 episode of "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert", the host said in the opening monologue, "Last night I told you about how Don Jr. met with a Russian lawyer who claimed to have dirt on Hillary Clinton. Seemed pretty bad. But, it turned out - much worse. Because then, the New York Times reported Trump was told in email this was a Russian effort to aid Trump's campaign. Wow who could have predicted an email scandal would taint a presidential campaign?"

"But we did not now what these emails were. We did not know if these emails were even real," Stephen Colbert added. "How would we ever see them? For that Donald Trump Jr. would have to tweet them out this morning at 11 AM."

He exclaimed, "What are you doing?! Who told him to do this? Does he even have a lawyer? Cause you rarely see a cop show where the lawyer burst into the interrogation room and shouts, 'Keep talking! In fact, tweet out everything you know!' "

After delving into details of the emails, Colbert said, "So, at this point I would like to issue a formal apology. I'd like to apologize to Eric Trump. We always thought you were the dumb one. We were wrong."

He also pointed out how a journalist, who had been trying to dig up the evidence of the Trump campaign's ties to the Russian government, reacted to the email release in disbelief.

Meanwhile, Conan O'Brien took to his own show "CONAN" to mock Trump Jr.'s move. The host played a parody in which Vladimir Putin told Trump Sr. via phone he was angry about Trump Jr. releasing those emails. He told Trump Sr. how he should deal with his son. The son of POTUS then interrupted his father's call several times only to tell the two leaders that their conversation was aired live on CNN.
