Oscar-nominated actor James Cromwell has been sentenced to jail following his arrest during a power plant protest in the city back in 2015. The "Babe" actor and two other environmental activists will spend seven days behind the bars after refusing to pay fines related to the initial arrest.

According to the Times-Herald Record, a Wawayanda, N.Y., court decided on Thursday, June 28 that the "American Horror Story: Asylum" actor had to serve in Orange County Jail in July. Cromwell was one of the six protesters who were arrested by state police on December 18, 2015.

Dubbing themselves the "Wawayanda Six," the six staged a sit-in at a Competitive Power Venture natural gas site. The protesters were against the plan to build the natural gas power in the town and said that the plant threatened the environment, with the actor allegedly shouting "Power to the people!" during the sit-in. They were all charged with the violation of obstruction of traffic.

Wawayanda Town Justice Timothy McElduff Jr. found all six guilty and and the six were each fined $250 plus a $125 surcharge on June 7. Three paid, while the 77-year-old actor, Pramilla Malick and Madeline Shaw refused to pay.

McElduff originally gave the three defendants until 3.15 P.M. Friday, June 30, to change his mind. However, he later extended the ruling until 5 P.M. on July 14 after defense attorney Michael Sussman asked for time to appeal for a stay to the jail sentence.

"If we don't stay together, nothing will change. Power to the people," Cromwell said to the site on Thursday after refusing to pay his fine.
