STX Entertainment releases the first trailer for upcoming action-thriller "The Foreigner" starring Jackie Chan and Pierce Brosnan. Jackie plays a humble London Chinatown restaurateur Quan, who loses his daughter in an IRA bombing.

In the trailer, Quan targets a former IRA man turned politician named Liam Hennessy (Pierce) as he believes Liam knows the names of the men responsible for the death of his daughter. The movie also stars Irish actors Michael McElhatton ("Game of Thrones"), Charlie Murphy ("Love/Hate") and Rory Fleck Byrne ("Damo & Ivor").

Pierce and Jackie do not spar in "The Foreigner". "That did not come into the equation," Pierce admits, "I might have thrown a few Irish roundhouse (kicks) and probably would have been dealt with quite quickly."

Jackie says of his role, "It was important for me to do a role that was more serious, with a lot of emotion. To prepare, I imagined what it would be like to be the father dealing with that situation."

Jackie wasn't permitted to shoot perilous stunts, "simply because if he was hurt, we'd be in (trouble)," says director Martin Campbell. However, the "Rush Hour" actor sparred extensively during the elaborate fight scenes. "My fans want to see me doing the stunts, and it keeps me in shape," he explains.

"The Foreigner" hits U.S. theaters on October 13.
