'America's Got Talent' Contestant Dies in Car Crash Before Episode Airs

Dr. Brandon Rogers, who was discovered by producers who saw his Boyz II Men cover on Instagram, died on Sunday, June 11 after being involved in a car accident the day before.

AceShowbiz - A standout contestant in current season 12 of "America's Got Talent" has passed away at the age of 29 just weeks before his episode airs. According to TMZ, Dr. Brandon Rogers died in a car accident, which occurred in Maryland on Saturday, June 10. Brandon was quickly taken to a hospital, where he died the following day.

Brandon and two of his friends were in a 2016 black Mercedes-Benz when the car went off the road and crashed into a tree. According to Maryland State Police, the two passengers in the car were transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital, while the driver of the vehicle did not sustain any injuries. The incident is currently being investigated, though police do not believe drugs or alcohol were involved.

"America's Got Talent" released a statement regarding Brandon's death to Billboard which read, "We are deeply saddened by the tragic passing of Dr. Brandon Rogers, who graced the 'America's Got Talent' stage as a contestant. Our thoughts are with his family."

Brandon was scheduled to appear in an upcoming July episode of the NBC talent competition. He caught producer's ears with his smooth cover of Boyz II Men's classic "On Bended Knee" in an Instagram video. Back in January, Brandon shared a stage with the artists at one of their shows at the Mirage Hotel in Las Vegas. It hasn't been decided whether "America's Got Talent" will air Brandon's segment, but his family reportedly said they would like the performance to air.

Family and friends mourned his passing and took to social media to express their condolences and pay tribute to their friend and loved one. "I didn't know what else to do, so I'm putting this out there. I want to thank everybody for your kind words and the phone calls and the messages," Brandon's brother, Danni Rogers, said in an emotional video posted on Instagram.

Brandon's sister, Christian, also paid an emotional tribute in her brother's honor. "Words cannot express the hurt and sadness that come with losing my brother. They cannot express the joy and gratitude i feel for having gotten to know and love him. But the can express happiness for knowing that he touched many lives and inspired many," wrote Christian on Instagram. "Thank you all for your prayers and condolences. Cherish your loved ones and hold them close the way Brandon did. Life is short and Tomorrow is not promised," she added.

After learning about Brandon's passing, Boyz II Men expressed their condolences on their Instagram account. "Today our hearts are deeply saddened to learn about the sudden death of Dr. Brandon Rogers. A few moths back we brought this young man out to the Mirage Hotel in Las Vegas to perform with us," the account wrote, before adding, "May God Bless, keep and comfort your family in this difficult time."
