'Gotham' Season 3 Finale: Bruce's Major Transformation, Big Death and Major Villain's Debut
TV

Bruce fulfills his destiny, a villain meets her/his final demise, and a long existing character is revealed to be Batman's adversary in the two-part finale.

AceShowbiz - As Gotham has been corrupted by more villains lately, a hero rises to fulfill his destiny in the third season finale. Having been following Bruce Wayne as a young boy, the show finally showed Bruce's transformation into the hero we know today.

[SPOILER ALERT!] After his brainwashing by the Shaman and some trainings by Ra's al Guhl, Bruce returned to Gotham and reconciled with Alfred. He realized that his purpose is to save the city. Toward the end of the episode, a family was stopped by a mugger in an alley, like what happened to Bruce's family. Someone appeared to help them and beat up the criminal.

The mysterious figure was then seen standing on the edge of a roof. The figure in all-black clothes revealed himself to be Bruce, looking over the city like the iconic imagery of Batman in the comics.

Also in the two-part finale, Strange developed a more efficient virus which infected people all over the city, including Jim. As he struggled to stave off those effects in himself, Harvey took his gun for safety measure. Later during a fight with Fish Mooney and ninjas in a warehouse, Jim let the virus take over. He mercilessly killed the ninjas and got carried away, until he shoved a sword through Fish Mooney's stomach.

In her last moment, Mooney told Penguin that it's already over for her. Having died enough times, she knew this is it and told Penguin to "make the city yours, or burn it to the ground."

Meanwhile, another villain arrived. Earlier in the episode, Barbara learned that Butch and Tabitha were plotting to kill her. After confronting Butch, Barbara shot him in the head. He was later seen unconscious in a hospital bed, looking brain-dead.

Two doctors who stood beside him talked about the patient. When one said that his name is Butch, the other was confused. It turns out that Butch had changed his name, because his name was listed as Cyrus Gold in his file.

For those who are not familiar with Cyrus Gold, it is the alter ego of Solomon Grundy. In the comics, the Batman villain is depicted as a murder victim brought back to life as a corporeal revenant or zombie.

"Gotham" returns on Thursdays at 8/7c this fall on FOX.
