Following the premiere of "Shadowhunters" season 2B on Monday, June 5, Freeform has announced that Sarah Hyland will be joining the series in a guest role. The "Modern Family" star is set to appear in two episodes this summer.

Sarah took to her Twitter account to share the news. "Yap! You heard it 'Shadowhunters' fans!" she said, before excitedly adding, "Imma be on the show! [I'll be] on season 2B." She went on saying, "I can't say who I'm playing yet, because it's a secret."

Freeform will release detail about her character at a later date. Her role is currently described simply as "special guest appearance." It is also unknown in what episodes Sarah will appear.

Sarah will be joining her real-life boyfriend Dominic Sherwood on the series. Adapted from "The Mortal Instruments" books by author Cassandra Clare, "Shadowhunters" also stars Katherine McNamara, Alberto Rosende, Emeraude Toubia, Matthew Daddario, Isaiah Mustafa and Harry Shum Jr.

"Shadowhunters" season 2B airs on Mondays at 8 P.M. on Freeform.
