T.O.P of Big Bang was charged with marijuana use on Thursday, June 1. Seoul Metropolitan Agency confirmed that the rapper "was handed over to prosecutors last April for charges regarding illegal drug use."

The "Zutter" hitmaker and a female acquaintance were found to have illegally smoked marijuana in his house in Seoul back in October. The police started investigating him by testing his hair while he was training at the police officer training center. He tested positive for marijuana use.

T.O.P initially denied the charges, claiming that he didn't know he was smoking marijuana. "I only smoked electronic cigarettes and I didn't know it was marijuana," he stated. However, his acquaintance admitted to the crime. It was revealed that the female acquaintance is a trainee in her 20s. The police also stated that T.O.P smoked marijuana in his house three times prior to his military enlistment.

YG Entertainment later released an official statement regarding the charges. "Hello. This is YG Entertainment. First of all, we would like to apologize. After confirming with T.O.P, we have confirmed that as reported, during his military service, he was called to be investigated for smoking marijuana before his enlistment," the agency said in a statement. "He has finished the investigation and has admitted to most of the allegations. He is now reflecting deeply. We are sorry once again for worrying many people."

Besides T.O.P, his bandmate G-Dragon and labelmate Park Bom were also involved in similar drug scandals several years ago.
