The 31-year-old songstress paid emotional tribute to her ex-assistant and best friend who is battling cancer during her set at the music festival.

AceShowbiz - There was a heartfelt moment during Lady GaGa's headlining set at Coachella last Saturday, April 22. The "Bad Romance" hitmaker touched many hearts as she performed acoustic rendition of her song "The Edge of Glory" and dedicated the emotional performance to her friend named Sonja Durham who is currently battling stage IV breast cancer.

"My friend Sonja is very sick and I love her so much and if it's okay with you, I'd like to sing this song for her," GaGa told the crowd before she started singing behind a piano. "Another shot, before we kiss the other side tonight/ Yeah, baby, tonight, yeah baby/ I'm on the edge of something final we call life tonight/ Alright Alright!/ Put on your shades, cause I'll be dancing in the flames tonight/ Yeah baby, tonight, yeah baby/ It isn't hell if everybody knows my name tonight," she sang.

GaGa then said in the middle of the song, "I'm sorry you don't feel well. We all wish you were here with us."

Sonja used to work as GaGa's assistant, and the two have been friends for ten years. Prior to this, GaGa dedicated a track called "Grigio Girls" off her 2016's album "Joanne" to her cancer-stricken friend.

Sonja previously referred to GaGa as her "guardian angel" as she wrote in her blog, "Honestly, if it wasn't for GaGa and the financial contributions from everyone so far I really do not think I would be here."
