Victoria Beckham Registers Her 5-Year-Old Daughter Harper's Name as Trademark

In addition to registering her three other sons as a part of Brand Beckham, Victoria trademarks her 5-year-old daughter Harper's name to be used in a range of products like toys, makeup and clothing.

AceShowbiz - Victoria Beckham a.k.a. Victoria Adams apparently has given some thoughts on the future of her kids, including 5-year-old Harper Beckham. According to intellectual property office records, Victoria has registered Harper's name to be used in a range of branded products, including "perfume, lip gloss and even anti-wrinkle creams, as well as books, umbrellas, music, clothing and children's dolls."

In addition, the Harper Beckham trademark has also been registered for use in the entertainment industry. Victoria seemingly believes that the action is required should Harper decide to follow in her mother's footsteps as pop star in the future.

The news doesn't come as a surprise, since the wife of David Beckham registered up the names of sons Brooklyn (18), Romeo (14) and Cruz (12) to the UK’s Intellectual Property Office and the EU-wide office back in December. The children are now officially a part of Brand Beckham, joining David who registered his name in 2000. Meanwhile, Victoria followed in 2002.

In response to the matter, Oliver Bray of international law firm RPC told Daily Mail that it was unprecedented to trademark a 5-year-old child. "It normally happens when your career is getting going and a lawyer says, 'Let's get some protection in place.' As opposed to the future-proofing, which is what Victoria has done with her children," Oliver said.

"It's a sign of the times with social media and the whole way in which celebrities are exploited," Oliver added. He continued, "In order to give you more levers to control your image, a trademark is an obvious place to go and it might be that society is driving the Beckhams to use these levers to protect their children in this more manipulative world in which we live."
