Elton John officially turned 70 on Saturday, March 25. He celebrated his birthday by throwing a huge, star-studded bash in Los Angeles. The party was also a celebration for the 50th anniversary of Elton's partnership with his songwriter partner, Bernie Taupin, and a fundraiser benefiting the Elton John Foundation and the Hammer Museum at UCLA.

The highlights of the party were the performances of top musicians, such as Lady GaGa and Stevie Wonder. The Mother Monster played a piano while singing her two hit songs, "Bad Romance" and "Born This Way". At one point during the party, Stevie Wonder and Lady GaGa teamed up to honor Elton with Stevie's iconic "Happy Birthday" song. Other musicians who performed at the bash were Ryan Adams and Rosanne Cash.

Earlier on the same day, Elton shared his excitement about celebrating his birthday on Instagram. He posted a photo of him and his two young sons, Elijah and Zachary, with a birthday chocolate cake before them. The birthday boy also expressed his gratitude to his fans, who have supported and wished him happy birthday, through a montage video of his career life. "So many memories in this video. Thank you for all the birthday wishes and your support over the years," he wrote in the caption.

Last week, Elton opened up in an interview with Beats 1 that he was excited for his 70th birthday. "Some people don't like birthdays, they don't like celebrating, they don't want to know about them, and I've always enjoyed my birthday... Seventy sounds so archaic, doesn't it? When I was growing up, 70 sounded like the end of the world. But things have changed-- you're only as old as you feel inside," the "Rocket Man" crooner said.

The bash was reportedly attended by top Hollywood celebrities. Katy Perry, Neil Patrick Harris, Ryan Phillippe, Heidi Klum, Dakota Johnson and more were spotted at the party.
