Without a doubt, Chance The Rapper becomes one of the brightest new talents in hip-hop music industry. Raised in the middle-class neighborhood of West Chatham in Chicago, Illinois, Chance shot to fame after releasing his sophomore mixtape "Acid Rap" back in 2013.

Three years after releasing "Acid Rap", Chance dropped another highly-recognized mixtape titled "Coloring Book" back in May. Chance liked the idea of everyone being able to listen to his music even if they didn't have money. So he put the project on his SoundCloud so that people could listen to it for free. Even tough it's free, Chance's still able to bring in heavy-hitting guests on his project including Justin Bieber and Kanye West.

Earlier this month, Chance had the best night at the 59th Annual Grammy Awards as he took home three trophies, including Best New Artist, Best Rap Performance for "No Problem" and Best Rap Album for "Coloring Book". He became the first black hip-hop artist to win the Best New Artist category since Lauryn Hill in 1999. Meanwhile, his "Coloring Book" album was the first streaming-only record to receive a Grammy nomination.

Since his historic win at the Grammys, Chance has received more offers from recording labels. However, he would rather stay independent as he reportedly turned down $10 million contract. "Every label is still trying to get him. He's making too much on his own... He was turning down $5 million advances before, and now it's like $10 million," a source told Page Six. "He may do something with Apple, but not a label per se... He is going to remain independent."

In an interview with Vanity Fair, Chance said that he never wanted to sell his music because he thought that "putting a price on it put a limit on it and inhibited me from making a connection." He added, "I make money from touring and selling merchandise, and I honestly believe if you put effort into something and you execute properly, you don't necessarily have to go through the traditional ways."
