AceShowbiz - Madonna has shot down recent report from the Associated Press claiming she's trying to adopt two more children from Malawi. In contrast to the report, the 58-year-old actress says she hasn't applied for the alleged adoptions.

Madonna has released a statement via her publicist to deny the claim. "I am in Malawi to check on the children's hospital in Blantyre and my other work with Raising Malawi, and then heading home," reads the statement. "The rumors of an adoption process are untrue."

Malawi government spokesperson Mlenga Mvula told the Associated Press earlier Wednesday, January 25 that Madonna had appeared before a Lilongwe High Court judge with two unidentified children. "The court is looking at the application now to determine whether Madonna can adopt these two children," Mvula told the publication.

Madonna has adopted two children from the country. The "Hold Tight" hitmaker adopted son David Banda, 11, in 2006 and daughter Mercy James, 11, in 2009. The pop diva founded her Raising Malawi charity in 2006 and is building Queen Elizabeth hospital, the first pediatric hospital in the impoverished country, to benefit the orphans and underprivileged children living there.
