Keegan-Michael Key is in final negotiations to join the cast of 2018's "Predator". Shane Black is directing the sci-fi action movie and writing the script together with Fred Dekker, while Larry Fong has been announced as the cinematographer.

Key will share screen with Boyd Holbrook, Trevante Rhodes and Olivia Munn. The Hollywood Reporter says that Key is teaming up with Holbrook and Munn to fight the creatures in the movie. Key and Holbrook will play ex-marines, and Munn will portray scientist. Rhodes will play Holbrook's best friend.

While "Predator" is broadly considered as a reboot of "Predator" movie franchise which started in 1987, last December director Shane Black said that the project wouldn't be really a reboot. It is an "inventive sequel" instead. The plot details have not been announced yet, but the story will be set in suburbia, a place which hasn't been invaded by "Predator" creatures.

Keegan-Michael Key, a multi-Emmy nominee, is best known for comedy series "Key and Peele", a sketch show which aired on Comedy Central. He appeared on other television shows such as "Modern Family", "Parks and Recreation", "Archer", "Bob's Burgers" and "BoJack Horseman". His feature film credits include "Tomorrowland", "Vacation" and comedy "Keanu".

Key, Rhodes, Holbrook and Munn are scheduled to start shooting "Predator" in late February. The production is handled by Twentieth Century Fox, Davis Entertainment and TSG. The movie is scheduled to be released on February 9, 2018.
