'Star Trek: Discovery' Casts Chris Obi, Shazad Latif and Mary Chieffo as The Klingons

'American Gods' actor Chris Obi, 'Penny Dreadful' actress Shazad Latif and newcomer Mary Chieffo will join the CBS All Access digital drama as Klingon warriors.

AceShowbiz - Chris Obi, Shazad Latif and Mary Chieffo are set to join the cast of "Star Trek: Discovery". The three will star as the Klingons on the CBS All Access series, which is set to premiere in May 2017.

Obi ("American Gods") will take the role of T'Kuvma, the Klingon leader who is seeking up to unite the Klingon houses. Latif ("Penny Dreadful", "Spooks") is set to star as Kol, who is the commanding officer of the Klingons and protege of T'Kuvma. Meanwhile, the battle deck commander of the Klingon ship, L'Rell, will be portrayed by Chieffo.

The trio will join previously announced cast members, including Michelle Yeoh who will star as Starfleet captain Georgiou, Doug Jones who will portray Lt. Saru and Anthony Rapp who will play Lt. Stamets.

"Star Trek: Discovery" follows the crew of the U.S.S. Discovery as they discover new worlds and civilizations, while exploring the franchise's signature contemporary themes. The series will feature a new ship, new characters and new missions, while embracing the same ideology and hope for the future that inspired a generation of dreamers and doers.

The series is produced by CBS Television Studios in association with Alex Kurtzman's Secret Hideout, Bryan Fuller's Living Dead Guy Productions and Roddenberry Entertainment. It will be executive produced by Kurtzman, Fuller, Heather Kadin, Gretchen J. Berg, Aaron Harberts, Akiva Goldsman, Rod Roddenberry and Trevor Roth.
