Granger Smith took a nasty fall when performing at the Starland Ballroom in Sayreville, New Jersey on Friday, December 2. The rising country singer was standing on a monitor when it gave way, sending him crashing off the stage into a metal barricade.

Despite the painful incident, the 37-year-old musician managed to get back on stage. "It must have been a city boy that put that up there," he joked. He finished his set with "Backroad Song" before taken to an emergency room for medical treatment.

Smith was quickly transferred and admitted to a Level 1 trauma center in New Brunswick. It was later revealed by doctors that he suffered from serious injuries; two completely separated broken ribs and a punctured and partially collapsed lung.

"I took a pretty hard spill last night in Jersey. Thx for the well wishes! Y'all mean the world to me. I'll be out of the hospital & [10 percent] soon!" he tweeted.
