The comedian is headed to the streaming giant with three new stand-up comedy specials.

AceShowbiz - Netflix has announced the return of Dave Chappelle with three stand-up specials in 2017. One of them is an all-new special produced by Netflix. The other two are from Chapelle's personal vault, which were previously recorded at Austin City Limits Live in April 2015 and at The Hollywood Palladium in March of this year.

"Dave Chappelle is a legendary voice in comedy - searing, vital, and now more than ever, essential," Lisa Nishimura, Netflix's VP of original documentary and comedy, said in a statement. "Dave's three new specials promise to be some of the most anticipated events in comedy." The terms of Chappelle's deal are not publicly known.

Chappelle, 43, has done very little TV work since walking away from his beloved sketch series "Chappelle's Show" in 2005. The actor returned to stand-up in 2013, performing nearly 500 shows in the past three years. However, he hadn't done televised stand-up until his instant classic monologue on "Saturday Night Live" after the election earlier this month. The comedian's appearance on the show reportedly helped the episode get the highest ratings of the season so far.

Chappelle becomes the latest big-name comic to sign a deal with Netflix, as Chris Rock also signed on for two specials with Netflix earlier this month, the first of which will be taped next year. Rock and Chappelle appeared together on "Saturday Night Live" on November 12.
