Showtime has released a new teaser trailer for "Homeland" season 6. It finds Carrie (Claire Danes) back in the U.S. She now lives in New York and works at a foundation that provides aid to Muslims living in the U.S., but once again she is caught in espionage.

However, the biggest challenge that Carrie has to face is convincing people that she's capable of what she's doing. "Stand down," Dar Adal (F. Murray Abraham) tells her. "No, you stand down!" she replies. Dar tells her again, "I don't think you understand how vulnerable you are." She shoots back, "I don't think you do."

The sixth season of the political thriller is set six months after Carrie thwarted a terrorist attack in Berlin and takes place in the period of time between election day and the inauguration, according to the official description. It's a strange, transitional time in the halls of government filled with anxiety and different competing interests, where a very fragile and complex transfer of power takes place between the outgoing president and the incoming president-elect.

Mandy Patinkin reprises his role as Saul, Rupert Friend also returns as Peter Quinn although he's not featured in the trailer, and Elizabeth Marvel is added to the cast as Elizabeth Keane, the president-elect.

The new season premieres Sunday, January 15 at 9 P.M. ET on Showtime.
