Mariah Carey may not have a hard time dealing with the end of her relationship with James Packer, because she has reportedly found comfort in the arms of another guy. The R&B diva is said to have become close with her backup dancer Bryan Tanaka amid problems with her then fiance.
A source tells E! News, "James was not in the right mind for months. Mariah was in essence an abandoned woman," adding, "While in Vegas, she turned to and developed a close relationship with Brian Tanaka."
TMZ publishes a similar story, claiming that James grew jealous of Mariah's relationship with Bryan. Sources say James became suspicious after the "#Beautiful" songstress gave Bryan a lap dance during her show in May in South Africa.
The tension boiled over in June during one of Mariah's shows. Bryan wasn't dancing that night due to an injury, so James thought it was weird that Bryan bothered to show up at her show. James allegedly confronted Bryan in a room, but it's unclear if it got physical.
James went as far as banning Bryan from Caesar's Palace, where Mariah performs, using his casino ties. He reportedly spread the hunky choreographer's photo to security. Mariah didn't make a fuss of it though, because Bryan wasn't dancing due to his knee injury. She, however, feared James, the sources say.
Confirming Mariah's split from James, her rep said the couple drifted apart after having a huge fight during a vacation in Greece last month. The rep, however, denied that it was caused by her lavish lifestyle. "The fight was not because of any cheating allegations or excessive spending by Mariah," the rep told Entertainment Tonight.
James' rep, meanwhile, has denied reports that he was "mentally unstable" and "is not in his right mind" prior to their breakup.
