Katy Perry and Pharrell Williams are announced as co-chairs for Met Gala next year. The two singers/songwriters are going to work alongside Vogue's Anna Wintour to put together a bash for the annual event in May 2017. The theme is Rei Kawakubo's Commes des Garcons.

The Japanese designer serves as an honorary chair and will get her own Met exhibit despite the fact that she has never been invited to the event in the past. It will mark the first monographic show on a living designer since the Yves Saint Laurent exhibition over three decades ago.

"I have always pursued a new way of thinking about design...by denying established values, conventions, and what is generally accepted as the norm," Kawakubo says. "And the modes of expression that have always been most important to me are fusion...imbalance... unfinished... elimination...and absence of intent."
