Charli XCX is teaming up with Lil Yachty for a new single "After the Afterparty". The track, which is due out on October 28, will be the first single off Charli's upcoming third album, which is largely produced by SOPHIE and Stargate.
The cover art for "After the Afterparty" on iTunes features a picture of a purple bottle with a gold chain necklace and "XCX" written across it. Charli shared two promotional photos of her and Lil on Twitter and Instagram.
Charli, who recently hit the recording studio with David Guetta, donned a red bikini with her body covered in bubbles. Lil, meanwhile, sported a pink shirt and gold accessories while holding a stack of cash.
Charli told The Fader of her still-untitled album, which is slated for a 2017 release, "I want to make the best pop album of 2017. I really just wanted to be Britney Spears when I was younger."
The "Fancy" hitmaker explained, "I didn't want to make just an album with SOPHIE, and I didn't want to make just an album with Stargate. I wanted to make an album with SOPHIE and Stargate. Sure, some of SOPHIE's records are a little harsh and off-the-wall, but the goal is to be making progressive pop music."
"Stargate obviously come from a totally different world, but at the same time that's also their aim, you know? That xylophone on their old Ne-Yo R&B s**t, the way the handclaps were programmed? I know people are going to be like, 'She wanted to make the album with SOPHIE, and her label said, You need to put it with Stargate to make this work.' But it was never about putting SOPHIE in a pop environment and flattening him out," she added, "It was knowing they could bounce really well, in a room together, working to each other's strengths."
On Tuesday, Charli posted a nude photo of her. She wore nothing but a black mickey mask while sitting on a silver couch in her bedroom. "Going to China brb," she captioned it.
