The official theatrical poster for "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" has arrived ahead of the release of the movie's new trailer. It features Felicity Jones' Jyn Erso as well as fans' favorite villain Darth Vader (James Earle Jones) who is seen hovering over the Rebel heroine.
Other characters shown in the newly-released image include Saw Gerrera (Forest Whitaker), K-2SO (Alan Tudyk), Chirrut Imwe (Donnie Yen), Cassian Andor (Diego Luna), Baze Malbus (Wen Jiang), Orson Krennic (Ben Mendelsohn) and Bodhi Rook (Riz Ahmed). Stormtroopers can also be seen beneath the main characters wading on the tropical planet of Scarif.
Directed by Gareth Edwards from a screenplay by Oscar-nominated screenwriters Chris Weitz ("About a Boy") and Tony Gilroy ("Michael Clayton"), the much-awaited "Star Wars" stand-alone movie is coming to U.S. theaters this year on December 17. It is supported by the likes of Jonathan Aris, Jimmy Smits, Genevieve O'Reilly and Mads Mikkelsen.
"Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" follows Jyn Erso, a Rebellion soldier and outlaw who is about to experience her biggest challenge when Mon Mothma gives her a mission to steal the plans for the Death Star. With the aid of the Rebels, a master swordsman and non-allied forces, Jyn will be in for something bigger than she thinks.
