AceShowbiz - Leonardo DiCaprio is going to Mars! At least, that's what he himself said when he was attending President Obama's South by South Lawn summit in D.C. Monday, October 3. While discussing climate change in a panel, the actor surprised everyone when he said that he'd signed up for a trip to Mars arranged by millionaire Elon Musk.
During the panel, climate scientist Katharine Hayhoe suggested that Musk's plan to send people to Mars to colonize the planet was too unrealistic, and she asked people to instead focus on Earth preservation. "As long as we haven't signed up for the trip to Mars, I don't want to know if anyone has, I think you're crazy," she said.
DiCaprio unexpectedly replied, "I did," before Hayhoe apologized. Weighing in on the conversation, the POTUS jokingly added, "I think he'll acknowledge he's crazy."
Musk recently proposed SpaceX program which would offer people the opportunity to embark on a one-way trip to Mars to colonize the planet. Not only do people have to pay a lot of money for the trip, but they also have to be prepared to die.
However, DiCaprio's fans can now rest assured knowing that he wouldn't risk his life to go to Mars, because he isn't going. Citing sources close to "The Revenant" star, multiple news outlets can confirm that he was just joking.
