Chris Evans' Steve Rogers Is No Longer Captain America in MCU, Russo Brothers Confirm

The 'Captain America: Civil War' scene where the World War II veteran drops his shield is confirmed to symbolize him giving up his superhero mantle.

AceShowbiz - Don't expect to see %cChris Evans% suiting up as Captain America in the future Marvel movies. Anthony and Joe Russo who directed "Captain America: Civil War" confirm that Steve Rogers has given up his identity as Cap in Marvel Cinematic Universe.

"I think him dropping that shield is him letting go of that identity," Joe told The Huffington Post. He elaborated, "[It's] him admitting that certainly the identity of Captain America was in conflict with the very personal choice that he was making."

Team Cap was pitted against Team Iron Man in the third Captain America movie. Steve Rogers has %cJeremy Renner%'s Hawkeye, %cAnthony Mackie%'s Falcon, %cSebastian Stan%'s Bucky Barnes, %cPaul Rudd%'s Ant-Man and %cElizabeth Olsen%'s Scarlet Witch as his allies while Tony Stark has %cDon Cheadle%'s War Machine, %cScarlett Johansson%'s Black Widow, %cChadwick Boseman%'s Black Panther, %cPaul Bettany%'s The Vision and %cTom Holland%'s Spider-Man on his side.
