Joe and Anthony Russo explained that the next two 'Avengers' films would not only be the ending of everything that had happened since 2008's 'Iron-Man', but also the new beginning for the MCU.

AceShowbiz - "Avengers: Infinity War" and "Avengers 4" are set to represent new beginning in Marvel Cinematic Universe. Directors Joe and Anthony Russo told IGN that the next two "Avengers" films would not only be the ending of everything that had happened since 2008's "Iron-Man", but also mark the new beginning for the MCU.

"I can't get into too much detail about who we're introducing, but these two movies are intended to be the culmination of everything that has happened in the MCU since the very first Iron Man movie," Anthony said. "In being a culmination, these movies are in some ways going to be an end to certain things, and in some ways, they're going to be the beginning of certain things."

Though he refused to explain what the "certain things" were, Anthony went on to address which characters were to focus on. "It's a little bit of both, because you always have to make sure that your choices feel organic to the storytelling, and really, you have to sort of structure them in the way that they need to be there," he said.

The director added, "You have to have them, or they shouldn't be in the movie. It's a little bit of a dance between the two, where you have big eyes, and you want everybody included in the movie, but you have to go through the process of... what's the best story that you can tell."

In other news, Cinema Blend recently caught up with the filmmakers and got them to shed some light on the reason behind the third "Avengers" film's title change. "We wanted the movie to be very different and distinctive, you know," Joe explained.

He added, "There's certainly cross-pollination between characters and some story-arcs, but you know, the first movie is very clearly 'Avengers: Infinity War' and, in time, we will reveal what the second film is." Asked when the official title for "Avengers 4" would come out, Antony replied, "You'll learn that, but not for quite some time."

"Avengers: Infinity War" is scheduled to hit U.S. theaters on May 4, 2018, while the fourth installment of "The Avengers" film series is set to be released in the following year on May 3.
