CBS lets go of Gibson after he kicked writer/producer Virgil Williams during an argument on the set of its procedural crime series.

AceShowbiz - Thomas Gibson has been fired from "Criminal Minds". He was initially suspended from the CBS procedural crime drama series, but now his contract is terminated after his physical altercation with a writer/executive producer identified as Virgil Williams was exposed to the public.

"I love Criminal Minds and have put my heart and soul into it for the last twelve years," the actor said. "I had hoped to see it through to the end, but that won't be possible now. I would just like to say thank you to the writers, producers, actors, our amazing crew, and, most importantly, the best fans that a show could ever hope to have."

"Thomas Gibson has been dismissed from Criminal Minds," CBS confirmed. "Creative details for how the character's exit will be addressed in the show will be announced at a later date."

Gibson has played the lead role of Aaron Hotchner on the show since its 2005 inception. He clashed with Williams when directing an episode a few weeks ago. He kicked the producer in the leg when their argument got heated. In his own defense, the actor claimed he only acted "in retaliation" after the producer became "aggressive."
