Legendary has released the first trailer for Hollywood-China film "The Great Wall". The trailer features Matt Damon and showcases a lot of epic actions as ancient warriors gather at the Great Wall to fight what look like giant dragons.

The opening crawl reads, "What were they trying to keep out?" Another scene shows Damon with his ponytail, saying in voiceover, "I was born into battle." He is seen jumping from the wall and likely chasing the monstrous creature. He solemnly continues, "This is the first war I've seen worth fighting for." The monster can be heard roaring at the end of the video.

Set in 15th century China, the film follows British warriors who happen upon the hurried construction of the massive wall. As night falls, the warriors realize that the haste in building the wall isn't just to keep out the Mongols - there is something inhuman and more dangerous.

"The Great Wall" marks Chinese director Zhang Yimou's English-language debut with multinational cast that also includes Tian Jing, Pedro Pascal, Andy Lau and Willem DaFoe. The Hollywood-China co-produced film is said to be the most expensive film ever shot in China, with a budget of $135 million.

The film will hit U.S. theaters on February 17, 2017 and comes to Chinese theaters in December this year.
