Jimmy Page Breaks Silence on Led Zeppelin's 'Stairway to Heaven' Plagiarism Trial

Back in June, the rock band won a copyright lawsuit against accusations that they ripped off Spirit's 1968 song 'Taurus' for the intro to 'Stairway to Heaven'.

AceShowbiz - Jimmy Page has finally broken his silence on Led Zeppelin's "Stairway to Heaven" plagiarism trial. The rock band's founding guitarist previously remained silent as the band was accused of ripping off Spirit's 1968 song "Taurus" for the intro to "Stairway to Heaven".

Jimmy took to Facebook on Sunday, July 24 to address the plagiarism trial and thanked fans after the band won the suit last month. "A few weeks have past since the judgement of the 'Stairway to Heaven' case in Los Angeles, with the jury reaching a unanimous decision in a remarkably short time," Jimmy wrote.

"Throughout the lengthy journey to that verdict, and even more recently, I have received and been aware of the overwhelming wave of support, encouragement, and congratulations that has been deeply moving," he added, "I'd like to take this opportunity to personally thank all those who contributed such a positive energy to me. Thank you, Jimmy Page."

Although Led Zeppelin came out as the winner in the copyright infringement lawsuit against Spirit, the case is apparently not over yet. Michael Skidmore, who represents the estate of late Spirit guitarist Randy California, filed an appeal on July 23.

Michael's attorney Francis Malofiy said Led Zeppelin "won on a technicality," since the judge would not allow him to play the recordings of the songs. He likened the experience to "fighting with one foot stapled to the floor."
