After Chris Brown, Jay-Z is also reacting to recent cases of police brutality by releasing a new song. Made available for streaming on Tidal on Thursday, July 7, the track titled "Spiritual" is the first new material from the rapper as a lead artist since 2013's "Magna Carta... Holy Grail".

The song that addresses police shootings against black people includes lyrics like "I am not poison, no I am not poison/ Just a boy from the hood that/ Got my hands in the air/ In despair don't shoot/ I just wanna do good, uh."

In a statement accompanying the song, the Roc Nation founder says, "I made this song a while ago, I never got to finish it. Punch (TDE) told me I should drop it when Mike Brown died, sadly I told him, 'this issue will always be relevant.' I'm hurt that I knew his death wouldn't be the last......"

"I'm saddened and disappointed in THIS America - we should be further along. WE ARE NOT," he continues. "I trust God and know everything that happens is for our greatest good, but man.... it's tough right now. Blessings to all the families that have lost loved ones to police brutality."

Jay-Z's wife Beyonce Knowles, meanwhile, paid tribute to victims of police brutality by having a moment of silence during her concert in Glasgow on Thursday. She also wrote an emotional message on her website, "We all have power to channel our anger and frustration into action."
