'Legends of Tomorrow' Season 2: Maisie Richardson-Sellers Is the New Vixen
TV

The 'Originals' vet has landed a series regular role of Amaya Jiwe, the grandmother of Megalyn E.K.'s Mari McCabe.

"DC's Legends of Tomorrow" has found the new Vixen. After it was reported that the show's adding the superheroine in season 2, Maisie Richardson-Sellers is now officially announced to take the series regular role of Amaya Jiwe a.k.a. Vixen.

Richardson-Sellers' Vixen is an old incarnation of the character. Megalyn E.K. a.k.a. Megalyn Echikunwoke guest starred as Amaya's granddaughter Mari McCabe, also a Vixen, on "Arrow" last season, but she won't reprise the role on "Legends of Tomorrow" due to her commitments to other projects.

The twist is made possible due to the show's time-travel storyline. Like her granddaughter, Amaya gets her powers from her family's Tantu Totem that allows her to access the powers of animals. E.K. will still voice the character on the CW Seed animated series, "Vixen", and the door is open for her to return on any of the DC shows should her schedule allow.

Richardson-Sellers is perhaps best known as Eva Sinclair, whose body was inhabited by Rebekah, on The CW's "The Originals". She appeared in "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" as Korr Sella, a Resistance officer reporting to General Leia Organa, and recently starred on "Of Kings and Prophets" as Saul's daughter, Michal.

"Legends of Tomorrow" season 2 premieres Thursday, October 13 at 8/7c on The CW.
