Following the first footage of "Jack Reacher: Never Go Back" which was released via Entertainment Tonight, Paramount Pictures has now released the first official trailer for the highly-anticipated movie. The trailer gives fans a look at a series of events where Tom Cruise's titular character tracks down the antagonists.

The trailer opens with Reacher sitting in an eatery after single-handedly taking down a group of men with his bare hands. "Two things are going to happen in the next 90 seconds," he warns two officers who handcuffed him. "First, that phone is going to ring. Second, you are gonna be wearing these cuffs on your way to prison." One of the officers ends up being arrested.

Reacher later goes to meet the head of his former unit, Major Susan Turner (Cobie Smulders), but she's arrested for alleged espionage. Believing that she's been set up, he gets her out of prison. Together, they begin to chase those who try to kill them both.

"You think you're above the law," he says. "But I'm not the law, so you should start running, 'cause I'm gonna start hunting - and when I find you, I'm gonna kill you all," Reacher threatens the bad guys.

The official synopsis for the film reads, "Former military cop Jack Reacher makes it all the way from snowbound South Dakota to his destination in northeastern Virginia, near Washington, D.C.: the headquarters of his old unit, the 110th MP."

"The old stone building is the closest thing to a home he ever had. Reacher is there to meet - in person - the new commanding officer, Major Susan Turner, so far just a warm, intriguing voice on the phone. But it isn't Turner behind the CO's desk. And Reacher is hit with two pieces of shocking news, one with serious criminal consequences, and one too personal even to think about."

Directed by Edward Zwick, the film also stars Danika Yarosh, Aldis Hodge, Patrick Heusinger, Holt McCallany and Robert Knepper. The sequel to "Jack Reacher" is coming to U.S. theater on October 21.
