Idris Elba Shares Teaser Image of 'The Dark Tower'
Movie

The Roland Deschain depicter shares a teaser image which emphasizes that he will portray one righteous character in the film adaptation of Stephen King's book series.

AceShowbiz - Idris Elba took to social media on June 19 to share a new teaser image of the upcoming "The Dark Tower, a big-screen adaptation of Stephen King's book series of the same name. The text in the image read, "Remember the face of your father."

While the image doesn't reveal much, the caption does have a lot of meaning for readers of the books. "I am Roland, son of Steven, son of Henry, true descendant of Arthur. And I have not forgotten," so Elba wrote, adding the hashtag #TheDarkTowerMovie, announcing his arrival as Roland Deschain.

Deschain's lineage is a point of pride as portrayed in the books. The quotation contains a reference to a line in the books, but not exactly the same. The phrase "you have forgotten the face of your father" is used throughout the books as a condemnation of shame, a way to say that someone behaves in a way that dishonors their mission and disgraces their heritage. Therefore, the actor is basically saying he's playing one righteous protagonist.

"The Dark Tower" centers on Deschain (Elba), a sort of frontiersman knight whose primary weapon is not a sword, but a pair of revolvers. He is the descendant of Arthur and the last long line of trained gunslinger. He sets on a quest to save his dying world by reaching the tower that stands at the nexus point in time and space.

Directed by Nikolaj Arcel, the film also stars Katheryn Winnick in an unspecified role, Matthew McConaughey as Walter Padick a.k.a. the Man in Black, Tom Taylor as Jake Chambers, Jackie Earle Haley as Sayre, Fran Kranz as Pimli, Abbey Lee Kershaw as Tirana and more.

The film is produced by Akiva Goldsman, Ron Howard, King, Brian Grazer and Erica Huggins. Scripted by Arcel, Anders Thomas Jensen, Goldsman and Jeff Pinkner, "The Dark Tower" is slated to hit U.S. theater on February 17, 2017.
