The helmer, who earlier had to pull out of the project due to scheduling conflict, is now on board to helm a new pilot for the CBS reboot.

AceShowbiz - "MacGyver" reboot pilot which was directed by David Von Ancken may have helped the project earn a series order from CBS, but apparently it's not good enough to air. James Wan, who has been developing the new series, is now set to direct a new pilot for the "MacGyver" reboot.

Wan, a co-creator of the "Saw" franchise, was originally on board to helm the pilot but he had to drop out due to scheduling conflict and was later replaced by Von Ancken. Wan will direct the new pilot based on a new screenplay penned by "Hawaii Five-0" showrunner Peter Lenkov.

"MacGyver" reboot centers on the titular character (Lucas Till), who is in his 20s and creates a clandestine organization within the U.S. government where he uses his extraordinary talent for unconventional problem solving and vast scientific knowledge to save lives. Joining his team on high-risk missions around the globe is maverick former CIA agent Lincoln (George Eads).

In the original pilot, MacGyver was recruited into the clandestine organization from the original series.

Wan is also credited as executive producer. Peter Lenkov, Henry Winkler, Lee Zlotoff and Michael Clear also executive produce the reboot.

"MacGyver" will air Fridays at 8 P.M. on CBS this fall.
