Judith Light reveals what character the 'I Am Cait' star will play in the upcoming third season of the comedy show.

Caitlyn Jenner's secret role on "Transparent" season 3 has been revealed. While creator Jill Soloway didn't share any details when announcing Caitlyn's cameo, Judith Light, who plays Shelly Pfefferman, reveals what character the "I Am Cait" star will play in the upcoming season, which is slated to debut in the fall.
"She's herself," Judith tells ET of Caitlyn's part, which has been filmed, "It's perfect. What could be more perfect? I'm not in that scene and I wasn't there the day that she filmed, but what could be more perfect than having her as part of the show?"
Judith praises Caitlyn's decision for coming out as a transgender woman. "She's quite remarkable, I have to say," Judith says, "What you're talking about is a level of courage and living one's truth and that's what this show embodies. That you see what it takes for a person to have suppress themselves for so long and then to say, 'I can't do this anymore. I cannot live like this.' "
"You root for someone to become their true self, to stand up in the face of everything, everybody, and your country, and your family, and your religion, and the law, and stand up and say, 'This is who I am and I have to live my truth.' I think we can all take a page out of that book, that kind of courage. It's incredibly inspiring to me," she adds.
Jay Duplass, who plays son Josh Pfefferman, adds, "It was fun to have her on set. People are nervous about how she shows up on 'Transparent'. All I can say is that once they see it, they'll be really pleased because it makes a lot of sense the way that it happens."
"It's like the Pfeffermans have evolved with the Jenners and the Kardashians," he continues, "It's been a weird symbiotic thing. Caitlyn has told us directly that watching 'Transparent' with her family helped figure out the transition. They were able to watch together and to laugh and talk about the real stuff going on there."
"Transparent" has been renewed for season 4 just after the series wrapped production on the third season. The fourth season will premiere on Amazon sometime in 2017.
