IMAX has released a poster for "Independence Day: Resurgence" ahead of its release. The poster repurposes the iconic "Raising the Flag on Iwo Jima" photo from World War II with a large alien spaceship.

There are three men with guns in the black-red-white poster with the man in the center holding a flag. "They messed with the wrong planet," reads the tagline. IMAX captions it, "We want YOU. Join the defense with our #IndependenceDay #Resurgence exclusive #art!"

Directed by Roland Emmerich, "Independence Day: Resurgence" is scheduled to be released in the U.S. in 2D, RealD 3D and IMAX 3D on June 24.

Jeff Goldblum, Bill Pullman, Judd Hirsch, Vivica A. Fox and Brent Spiner will reprise their respective roles from the 1996 "Independence Day". New additions to the cast for the sequel include Liam Hemsworth, Angelababy, Maika Monroe, Sela Ward and Jessie T. Usher.
