The cover art of David Bowie's album "Blackstar" isn't as simple as it looks. Some fans have found out that something magical will happen to the record's vinyl edition when they put it under direct sunlight.
The fans took to social media to share pictures of the all-black artwork turning into a field of glowing stars after being placed in the sun. According to them, the secret design will fade away once the light source is removed.
"Blackstar" was released earlier this year just days before Bowie passed away. The cover was designed by Jonathan Barnbrook, who revealed to Dezeen magazine a few months ago that he was first criticized over the artwork that looked too simple.
"It's subsided a bit now, but a lot of people said it was a bulls**t cover when it came out, that it took five minutes to design," he told the magazine. "But I think there is a misunderstanding about the simplicity."
"The Blackstar symbol, rather than writing 'Blackstar', has as a sort of finality, a darkness, a simplicity, which is a representation of the music," he explained. "The idea of mortality is in there, and of course the idea of a black hole sucking in everything, the Big Bang, the start of the universe, if there is an end of the universe. These are things that relate to mortality."
