Is Sookie Really Not on 'Gilmore Girls' Revival? Here's Melissa McCarthy's Explanation
TV

While she says she wasn't invited to return for the four-part continuation, the 'Bridesmaids' actress is 'thrilled that it's happening.'

Melissa McCarthy is totally supportive of "Gilmore Girls" revival although she's not part of it. While promoting her new movie "The Boss", the actress addressed the long-running question about whether she's really not going to return for the four-part continuation.

"I don't think I am," she tells E!'s Marc Malkin. She explains what happened, "I didn't actually get asked to do it. But I think they thought I was busy, and then by the time it did come up, then I actually was."

Still, McCarthy is "thrilled that it's happening." She adds, "I loved that show, and I think the fans for that show are super loyal and great and I will watch every single one of them." Asked if she would reprise her role as Sookie should the revival continue beyond one season, she responds, "I want to cook again. I want to put salt and then stir. That was seven years of my life and it was really great. I was proud of that show."

So, let's pray that Netflix orders more episodes after releasing the four-part revival.

While McCarthy is not returning for "Gilmore Girls" revival, a bunch of other stars like Lauren Graham, Alexis Bledel, Kelly Bishop, Scott Patterson, Yanic Truesdale, Keiko Agena, Liza Weil, Danny Strong, Milo Ventimiglia, Jared Padalecki and Matt Czuchry have signed up to return for the new series.
