ABC has added another star to its upcoming "Dirty Dancing (2017)" remake. The Pussycat Dolls alum Nicole Scherzinger will play Penny, a dancer who becomes pregnant and gets an abortion. The role was originally played Cynthia Rhodes on the big screen.

The former judge of "The X-Factor" will join Abigail Breslin who has been tapped to take over the main role originated by Jennifer Grey and Colt Prattes who has been cast as the male lead made famous by the late Patrick Swayze in the original 1987 feature film.

The three-hour TV movie will revolve around Frances "Baby" Houseman, an innocent young woman who falls for a working-class dance instructor. Debra Messing is expected to play Baby's mother Marjorie, a role originally played by Kelly Bishop.
