'How all of that plays out and what's actually happening, we'll leave for after the break,' says executive producer Andrew Kreisberg as the next episode will introduce the first female speedster.

"The Flash" has finally revealed the true identity of Zoom, only to start another mystery. In "King Shark" which aired Tuesday, February 23, Zoom unmasks himself after stabbing Jay Garrick in last week's episode, and the supervillain is none other than [SPOILER ALERT!] Hunter Zolomon a.k.a. Jay Garrick.
There was a speculation that Zoom is Jay Garrick after it was revealed earlier that his Earth-1 doppelganger was actually Hunter Zolomon, who is the alter ego of Zoom in the comics. Still, it causes everyone to wonder how Jay who arrived on Earth-1 without power could zip back and forth to Earth-1 and Earth-2, and how he could stab himself in the chest.
Apparently, those questions won't be immediately answered in the next episode. Executive producer Andrew Kreisberg tells EW, "How all of that plays out and what's actually happening, we'll leave for after the break. But we wanted to go out on this run of episodes with a big reveal, just the same way we did at the end of episode 9 in season 1, where we revealed that Harrison Wells was the man in the yellow suit. Zoom's identity is finally revealed."
How Jay came into Barry Allen's life was indeed similar to how last season's villain Harrison Wells got close to the titular hero. Kreisberg thinks "it's an even larger betrayal than last year in some ways, because they're all going to feel like they should've been inoculated against it. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me."
He explains, "They let this person in. Part of the reason he was able to do that was because there was a hole in the center of their group, and he knew that. He was able to step in because they wanted it so desperately. Barry was missing his mentor, Wells, and here comes Jay offering to be his mentor. Caitlin had lost Ronnie, and then here comes Jay offering to be her new knight in shinning armor."
When asked about the mystery man locked up in Zoom's lair, Kreisberg remains mum. "Just when we solve one mystery, we like to set up another one," he says. "The identity of the man in the [iron] mask is, in some ways, probably an even bigger surprise than this one, if you can imagine it. It's a new mystery to pull you through the season. Barry swore he wasn't going to leave him behind. Something tells me Barry's going to make good on that promise."
Leaving Zoom behind for a while, "The Flash" will meet the first female speedster, Eliza Harmon a.k.a. Trajectory, in the new episode. As seen in a preview video, Cisco is excited about the arrival of the new speedster, while Barry isn't too thrilled after he got punched in the face by Trajectory, who is played by Allison Paige.
The new episode won't air until Tuesday, March 22 on The CW.
