The rock drama from Martin Scorsese has been renewed for season 2 after it was premiered on Sunday.

AceShowbiz - "Vinyl" has got a vote of confidence from HBO. The new drama series has been renewed for a second season by the premium cable channel, after only one episode. It opened with 764,000 viewers for its first episode which aired on Sunday, February 14.

The rock drama centers on Bobby Cannavale's Richie Finestra, a record label president in the 1970s who is trying to save his company and his soul without destroying everyone in his path. The all-star cast also includes Olivia Wilde, Ray Romano and Juno Temple.

Martin Scorsese, who executive produces the series, directed the two-hour pilot. Mick Jagger, Terence Winter, Victoria Pearman, Rick Yorn, Emma Tillinger Koskoff, John Melfi, Allen Coulter and George Mastras also serve as executive producers for the show.

While the ratings for the premiere airing were not huge, the show has received generally positive reviews from critics. The early renewal also doesn't come as a surprise considering the talent involved in the project.
