Rihanna is no longer slated to perform at the 2016 Grammy Awards. The singer canceled her scheduled appearance at the last minute due to an illness that might permanently damage her vocal cords, said TMZ.

RiRi's rep has confirmed the report in a statement issued on Monday, February 15. "Based on Rihanna's examination, after Grammy rehearsal today, Rihanna's doctor put her on vocal rest for 48-hours because she was at risk of hemorrhaging her vocal chords," the rep wrote. "The antibiotics she has been on for 3-days did not kill the infection adequately therefore she cannot perform safely."

RiRi was supposed to perform "Kiss It Better" off her "Anti" album during the 2016 Grammy Awards. According to TMZ, RiRi's really eager to return to the Grammy stage despite her condition. She had even showed up at Los Angeles' Staples Center where the awards show's held, though she didn't walk the red carpet, before reluctantly leaving the venue and going home.
