"Gilmore Girls" adds another original star to its upcoming revival. According to a scoop from TVLine, Liza Weil has been signed on to reprise her role as Rory's friend, Paris Geller, on the reboot project from Netflix.
Weil joins returning cast like Lauren Graham, Alexis Bledel, Kelly Bishop, Scott Patterson, Matt Czuchry, Yanic Truesdale, Sean Gunn, and Keiko Agena. "Paris is a hoot," Bishop said. "It's unbelievable what [series creator] Amy [Sherman-Palladino] has written for Paris. People are going to have so much fun with it."
Melissa McCarthy is also among the stars on the original series. In response to a fan's plea for her to return to the show, she responded, "Thanks for the invite, but sadly no one asked me or Sookie to come back to Stars Hollow. Wish them all the best!!"
Sherman-Palladino cited the "Spy" actress' hectic schedule as the reason why she's not among the returning cast but the creator assured that if the actress was "available" and had "an afternoon free," she would write her a scene.
Filming has begun for the new series and the first photo from the set was shared by Truesdale on Twitter.
