The 'Modern Family' star says she didn't even try to cover up her scars when attending the prize-giving ceremony in a backless black dress and there's a reason for it.

Ariel Winter's breast reduction scars were visible when she attended the 2016 SAG Awards last Saturday, January 31, but it wasn't a wardrobe malfunction. Hitting the red carpet in a strapless, backless black dress, she told her Twitter followers on Sunday that she did it on purpose.
"Guys there is a reason I didn't make an effort to cover up my scars! They are part of me and I'm not ashamed of them at all. :)" she wrote on Twitter. She added in another post, "Thank you all so much for the support, kind words, and happy birthdays! <3"
Winter underwent breast reduction surgery to go from a size 32F to a 34D last June. "I got it for myself," she told Glamour magazine of her decision. "I have felt more happy with myself than I ever have."
"People start looking me in the eye," the "Modern Family" star shared. "Other people I know can finally not turn around and whisper behind my back about, 'Are those real? Are those fake?' I've heard that for so many years. ... But we live in a society that that's what they think about."
The 18-year-old actress added, "Now I can wear all styles of dresses and all styles of things! I don't always have to pick the tightest, most formfitting dress I can find ... I'm excited to finally actually feel confident and not just appear confident."
