Kim Richards' ex-husband Monty Brinson died on Sunday, January 24 after battling lung cancer for years, TMZ has learned. A source close to Brinson said that he was surrounded by his family in a medical facility before he finally passed away.
His former brother-in-law Rick Hilton, the father of Paris Hilton, announced his passing on Sunday night by uploading a photo on Instagram along with an emotional caption. "We have lost Monty Brinson after a brave battle with cancer. His heart was a big as the moon and he was loved by all he Met. He will be sorely missed. I love You always!" so read the caption of the photo.
Recently, Monty appeared to be hopeful with his condition. On Thursday, he posted on Instagram a photo along with a caption that expressed his desire to keep fighting his ilness. "I just got a sign from God, with all the fight and love inside me he's going to keep me down here for awhile so I can win this battle so I can watch over my loved ones and take care of them, I'm going to be stronger than ever and over come this," he captioned the photo.
Kim and Monty were married for three years, from 1985 to 1989. The former couple welcomed their daughter Brooke in 1989. After the divorce, they remained close friends even lived together in the past few years when he was battling cancer.
