Feeling optimistic after learning of Cheryl Boone Isaacs' statement addressing the lack of diversity in the 88th annual Academy Awards' nomination list, Jada says, 'I look forward to the future.'

AceShowbiz - Jada Pinkett Smith applauded Academy President Cheryl Boone Isaacs for releasing a statement addressing the lack of diversity in the 88th annual Academy Awards' nomination list. The 44-year-old actress/director, who previously called for a boycott, took to Facebook on Tuesday, January 19 to thank Cheryl for her quick response to the controversy.

"I would like to express my gratitude to the Academy, specifically Cheryl Boone Isaacs, for such a quick response in regard to the issue at hand," Jada wrote on the social media. "I look forward to the future."

Meanwhile, the number of people reacting to the Oscars' snubs is increasing. Most recently, George Clooney and 50 Cent weighed in on the issue. George said that the Academy needed to give African-Americans more opportunities to be included in the nomination list.

"If you think back 10 years ago, the Academy was doing a better job. Think about how many more African Americans were nominated," George told Variety. "But honestly, there should be more opportunity than that. There should be 20 or 30 or 40 films of the quality that people would consider for the Oscars. By the way, we're talking about African Americans. For Hispanics, it's even worse. We need to get better at this. We used to be better at it."

Fif, on the other hand, made fun of black people from the film industry who announced their absence at the awards show. The rapper posted on Instagram a meme showing a group of white people in suit laughing together. The words in the picture read, "The Oscar committee laughing at all the black actors talking about boycotting the awards - We didn't invite or want you here anyway." Alongside the picture, he wrote, "This is just bad all the way around, lol #FRIGO #SMSAUDIO."
