Like other celebrities, Kim Kardashian took to social media to pay tribute to the late Martin Luther King Jr. on Monday, January 18. The 35-year-old mother celebrated the holiday with an Instagram video featuring Kanye West at his young age as he read a poem he wrote about the civil rights leader.
"Baby Kanye reciting a Martin Luther King poem. Happy Martin Luther King Day," Kim captioned the video. In the video, Kanye seemed to be around nine or ten years old. He was seen standing in front of a microphone as he introduced himself before reading his poem. "My name is Kanye West and my poem is 'His Name Is Love'," he said. "A man who fought for freedom. A man who fought for equality. Those who were against him were too blind to see."
Kim found the video on YouTube and she posted part of it on Instagram and Twitter. In the full video, Kanye read the whole poem. "What this man was fighting for. So Blacks, Hispanics, Jews and Asians could put their foot in the door. Yes, we know that this man is great," he added.
"That's why today we celebrate and everyone lifts their voice and sing. For a man who wanted freedom to ring. Martin Luther King is who I'm speaking of. A man whose name means love," he continued before the audience gave applause.
Just in time for the national holiday, Kanye gave Kim a very special gift, HollywoodLife.com has learned. According to the site's source, Kanye "wrote Kim the most elegant letter of his life and titled it 'I Have A Dream'." The source said, "In the letter, he tells Kim of the days where he dreamed of walking her down the aisle and marrying his soul mate. He tells her how he's dreamed of having a family with her."
